I've just finished my second week as a full time dad and I'm absolutley cream crackered!! I say finished but it's not like I get the weekend off or anything, I just get an extra set of hands and eyes that I long for all day during the week. Having said that, I'm loving it being with my seven month old daughter, Poppy, all day every day is amazing and is exactly how I wanted it since I found out my wife was pregnant. Only down side is that I don't get the excited look from her anymore when I come in from work but my wife does, I'm just boring old daddy who's there all the time, still I get to see the teletubbies theme tune look everyday, just as priceless.

I find toddlers groups fascinating. It seems that the women attending them go to socialise and totally forget to look after their own or anyone else's kids. The amount of kids I have stopped falling off chairs, eating things they should not or just generally rescued is totally unbelievable.

"Anybody else think that children's birthday parties are getting too competitive. It seems that traditional 'jelly and ice-cream' parties at home are being replaced by expensive trips out and visits to play centres. Whether it's just to keep up with the other parents or to save their homes from being messed-up I don't know. At the end of the day most children will be happy with some party food, a few games and a party bag to take home."
