Child benefit is available for everybody who is bringing up children providing the child is under 16; or is under 19 and in full-time education; or is aged 16 or 17 and has registered for work or training with the Careers Service or Connexions Service.
In order to make a claim you can ring the Child Benefit UK office on 0845 302 1444 or you can fill in the child benefit form that you should receive from the hospital or midwife after the birth of your child. You can also download a claim form online or you can claim online by going to the Child Benefit Online Menu
From 2008 child benefit has increased so now you will receive £18.80 per week for your first child and £12.55 each for any other children.
